"The easiest thing to do on earth is not write."

So, as part of my work for Red Bee Media I wrote and edited listings for various BBC TV channels for the iPlayer site. Here are some examples of my copy.

Ok, I know it's not the most inspiring copy, but I created dozens of these every day for over five BBC Channels, from varying levels of information from the producers, under limited character counts, a very specific style guide, tight deadlines and, of course, always adhering to BBC and Ofcom guidelines.
Beechgrove Garden

In the Beechgrove Garden, Jim takes a look at the triffid tomatoes that are taking over in the greenhouse and later in the main veg plot has a look at why our french beans are so poor this year.

Carole is in the decking garden where all the produce is in pots and containers and demonstrates just how much can be grown to eat in a very small space. Carole also tops up her tatties in bags and will be adding some colour with a new range of trailing clematis for hanging baskets.

George is solving a few problems with Rosie Creyke in North Berwick. Rosie is an aspiring gardener who moved to her cottage two years ago. The problem is that an area of her garden is pretty much all builder's rubble, and to add to that a large damson tree creates shade over the entire area. Rosie wants to make this area look good as she can see it from the house but it's a daunting task for a relatively new gardener. George and Rosie will clear area, rebuild drystane walls and plant selected plants for all year round colour and for dry shade as well as prune back that big old damson. All in time for tea!

Jim visits the picturesque, award-winning conservation village of Fordyce. It's a village of only 150 people and yet on the 22nd July the village opens no fewer than 12 of its gardens to the public. Jim visits the village in preparation for the event and sees as many beautiful gardens as he can in a day.
Third Star

Benedict Cumberbatch, JJ Field, Tom Burke and Adam Robertson star in this emotional comedy about four young men on an ill-advised camping trip along the Pembrokeshire coast.

Directed by Bafta winner Hattie Dalton and written by Vaughan Sivell, the film tells the story of James, a dying young man on a mission to visit his favourite place on earth - Barafundle Bay - before it's too late. With the help of his three closest friends, he sets off on a journey of a lifetime.

The Exhibitionists

Three exhibitionists remain - they have to convince the National Museum of Wales's director general David Anderson that their show is good enough to be staged in the prestigious Gallery 24.

They have ten minutes each to present a miniature gallery version of their show to David and mentors Karen and Osi. Will nerves get the better of them, and will the Director General be impressed with their presentations? Inevitably, one person will have to leave.
Llangollen 2012

Highlights from the 2012 Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod, featuring the best of the choral and dance competitions, including highlights of the prestigious Choir of the World competition.

This programme also features excerpts from Karl Jenkins's new choral work, The Peacemakers, performed at the International Pavilion, conducted by the composer and featuring BBC Cardiff Singer of the World winner Valentina Nafornita.

Presented by Sara Edwards and Wyn Davies with specialist contribution from Wynne Evans.
